EPLAN Reports
EPLAN reports are part of the EPLAN integration in the Pro+ and Enterprise plans. From an open EPLAN project you can:
- generate a label list (Excel, text or XML), a PDF or DXF or DWG drawings with a scheme of your EPLAN master data;
- update the report pages of the project, or create them from the report templates of the project, before you hand the project over.
You never type a scheme name: AnyAutomation Studio lists the schemes that exist in your EPLAN master data, and you pick one. Studio uses the schemes as they are and never changes or adds a scheme in your EPLAN master data.
Open the project first (see EPLAN Integration). The commands are in the Reports menu (report icon) in the title bar of the EPLAN Project Explorer, and in the Command Palette.
Generate a Report
- Click Reports > Generate Report….
- Choose what EPLAN generates:
- Label List (Excel, Text or XML): a list from a label scheme, for example terminal or device labels, or a list of the PLC signals.
- PDF: the project as a PDF file.
- DXF or DWG Drawings: the project pages as drawings.
- Choose the scheme. The list shows the schemes of this kind in your EPLAN master data; the scheme EPLAN used last is marked Last used and is selected.
- Only for a label list:
- Choose Use the Filter and Sorting of the Label Scheme, or Choose a Filter and a Sorting Scheme…. With the second option you pick the report type first, then a filter scheme and a sorting scheme of that report type; Use the Setting of the Label Scheme keeps the scheme's own setting for either of them.
- Choose the language of the texts in the list.
- In the save dialog, choose the file. The file types match the kind:
.xlsx,.xls,.txtor.xmlfor a label list,.pdffor PDF,.dxfor.dwgfor drawings. Choose the file type the scheme writes.
A progress message shows while EPLAN works. Click Cancel to stop; EPLAN finishes the step it is working on and then stops. When the file is written, a message shows its path with Open File and Reveal in File Explorer.
When the List of Schemes Is Empty
If your EPLAN master data contains no scheme of the chosen kind, a message says so and offers Open Manual. For label lists the message also offers Export PLC Tag List: to get the PLC signals into Excel without a label scheme, use the PLC tag list, see EPLAN PLC Lists.
An Excel List from EPLAN
EPLAN writes a label list as Excel only when the label scheme has an Excel output. Whether such a scheme exists depends on your EPLAN master data. Studio shows all label schemes, so you can see right away which ones exist. If none fits, the PLC tag list gives you an Excel workbook of the PLC signals without any scheme.
Export the Project as PDF with a Scheme
Export Project… in the title bar of the Project Explorer offers the PDF schemes too. After you choose PDF, pick a PDF export scheme from the list, or the first entry Use the PDF Settings EPLAN Used Last. The PXF export needs no scheme.
Generate Report Pages
Report pages are the evaluation pages of an EPLAN project, for example the PLC card overview or the terminal diagram. Update them before you export a PDF, so the PDF matches the schematic.
- Click Reports > Generate Report Pages….
- Choose how EPLAN generates the pages:
- Update the Existing Report Pages brings every report page of the project up to date with the schematic.
- Create Report Pages from the Report Templates creates the pages of the selected report types from the report templates stored in the project.
- Select one or more report types: PLC Card Overview, PLC Diagram, Device List, Terminal Diagram, Cable Diagram, Connection List, Summarized Parts List, Signal Overview.
A message tells you how many pages EPLAN created and updated, and the Project Explorer shows the new pages. If EPLAN created and updated nothing, the project may have no report templates for the selected types.
The report pages are written into the EPLAN project at once, as every change from AnyAutomation Studio.
EPLAN Licence Modules
- Label lists need the Labelling module of your EPLAN licence. Without it, Label List shows "Not included in your EPLAN licence", and choosing it shows a message that names the missing module.
- DXF and DWG drawings need the DXF and DWG Export module.
- Generate Report Pages… needs the Graphical Reports module and is greyed out without it.
- PDF output and the PDF export need no additional module.
Hover over the EPLAN entry in the status bar to see the modules your licence does not include.
In the AI Chat
In the chat, the EPLAN Engineer agent lists the schemes of your EPLAN master data, generates reports with a scheme from that list, updates or creates report pages and lists the report pages of the project. Before it writes a file or changes the project, the chat asks for your confirmation.
Notes
- If EPLAN does not know a scheme, for example because it was renamed in EPLAN in the meantime, the message names the schemes that exist. Run the command again and pick one of them.
- If the file type does not fit the kind of report, the message says which file types EPLAN can write.
- To have the save dialog start in the same folder each time, set the folder under Settings > EPLAN > Default Export Directory.
