Getting Started

The First-Run Welcome

The very first time you open AnyAutomation Studio, a full-screen Welcome appears and walks you through a short setup in a few steps. Each step has a Continue button to move forward, and you can step back at any point. When you reach the end, click Enter Workspace to open the application.

You can revisit this walkthrough at any time later — open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P) and run Open Welcome Walkthrough, or pick it from the Help menu.

1. Get Started

The first screen welcomes you and explains what the walkthrough covers. Click Get Started to begin.

2. Bring Your Setup

If you already use Visual Studio Code on this computer, you can carry your familiar setup straight across:

  • Choose the Visual Studio Code card to bring over your settings and keyboard shortcuts. Tick the option to also include your extensions if you want them installed as well.
  • Click Import & Continue to apply your choices and move on.
  • Prefer a clean slate? Choose Start Fresh instead, and the application keeps its default settings.

If no Visual Studio Code installation is found, there is nothing to import — you simply continue with a clean, default setup.

You can also click Skip to bypass this step entirely.

3. Choose Your Theme

Pick the look you prefer:

  • Light — a bright theme for well-lit rooms.
  • Dark — an easy-on-the-eyes dark theme.
  • Monokai — a vivid, high-contrast dark theme.

The preview updates live as you click each option, so you can see the result before committing. Your choice is not final — you can switch themes at any time later from the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+PColor Theme).

4. Sign In

To unlock the application, sign in to your AnyAutomation account:

  • Start a free Pro trial — sign up and try every feature for the trial period.
  • Log in — if you already have an account, sign in with it.
  • Enter a license key — activate a license you already own.
  • Skip for now — continue and sign in later from the license badge in the Status Bar.

5. You're Set

The final screen confirms you're ready and offers quick links to jump straight into a common first task:

  • Open a TIA project
  • Connect to a PLC
  • Open the AI assistant
  • Browse the documentation

Pick a link to start there, or click Enter Workspace to open the application and begin working.

Reopening the Walkthrough

You can run through this walkthrough again at any time:

  • Open the Command Palette with Ctrl+Shift+P and run Open Welcome Walkthrough, or
  • Choose it from the Help menu.
